It wasn’t until 2020 that COVID-19 became an important factor of import in the personal care and cosmetics industry. But by now, you will agree, no matter where in the world you are, the virus has changed things around you. Due to COVID-19, various stakeholders of the cosmetic industry like manufacturers, importers are facing difficulties in the official submission of documents. The consignments of imported cosmetic products are getting stuck in the airport and ports. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) received a lot of grievances related to the hurdles in the process of submission of documents like notary, apostilled and embassy attestation of regulatory documents such as Power of Attorney, FSC, Manufacturing license, with legal signatures etc. due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic regarding import and registration of the cosmetic products in India.
This situation is scrutinized by the government, and authorities came to a decision that the applicant can submit applications later on for import and registration as per the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 & Rules. It is applicable under the condition that the documents are self-attested with an undertaking that they will submit the notarized/apostilled documents with legal signatures when the COVID-19 pandemic will gradually come to an end within four months.
